It has three aims:
- to provide a national platform for a serious contribution to questions of social and penal reform
- to make significant recommendations to policy makers
- to be written, delivered and promoted in such a way as to engage wide public interest.
Our 2009 Longford Lecture took place on Wednesday December 2 at Church House, Westminster. The speaker was Sir Hugh Orde, formerly Chief Constable of the Northern Ireland Police Service, and since September Head of ACPO, the Association of Chief Police Officers. The Longford Trust makes no charge for tickets. The Longford Lecture is open to all regardless of means. All are welcome. The trust’s work is supported entirely by voluntary donations. Consequently, a contribution of £10 per ticket to cover costs would be gratefully received. If you are booking online, you can either give your voluntary donation in lieu of tickets on the night, or you can separately send a cheque by post to the Trust's offices at PO Box 64302, London NW6 9JP
