Raising money for the Longford Trust

Some of our brilliant supporters contact us and want to volunteer to raise money for the Longford Trust through their own efforts. Nothing makes us happier.  People like Harry Wain, pictured above, who has just run the Richmond Marathon and has exceeded his target of £1,500 to support our scholarship programme.  Is there a challenge you would like to undertake to help us help more young ex- and serving prisoners have a second chance through education?  If so contact Jill Dale.

Marathon Women

The McIlvaines (pictured right, mother and daughter, Middle Brook and Lil’ Brookie, to give them their family names) are also running a marathon to support us.  The Mount Desert Island half-marathon takes place this autumn in Maine on the east coast of the United States.

STOP PRESS!  The event has sadly been cancelled; however, the McIlvaines will run the equivalent distance for us but not in a formal race.

Their target is an ambitious £20,000. If you would like to contribute, please go to their JustGiving fund-raising page.

Trustee Legwork

Alex Fletcher supporting Longford TrustAnd continuing the running theme – though, of course, you can do lots of other things to raise money for us as well as running – our trustee, Alex Fletcher (pictured right), inspired by the individuals above, will climb all the peaks over 1,000 feet in the Acadia National Park in Maine. The total distance will equal that of a marathon and the amount of climb will be just over 7,000 feet which he intends to complete in one day in September.  If you would like to cheer him on by making a donation, please go to his JustGiving fund-raising page.
