Raising money for the Longford Trust

Some of our brilliant supporters contact us and want to volunteer to raise money for the Longford Trust through their own efforts. Nothing makes us happier.  People like Harry Wain (pictured above) who has already run two marathons for us and is now attempting will run the Brighton Marathon on 2 April. ‘I am running for The Longford Trust.  I’ve had a lot of support in the past and I’m really excited for this next challenge and to support the charity once again!’ He  has set up a Just Giving page for this event. If you are able to sponsor him, any donations would be very much appreciated.

Is there a challenge YOU would like to undertake to help us help more young ex- and serving prisoners have a second chance through education?  If so, please contact Chris Walters.

Marathon Women

The McIlvaines (pictured right, mother and daughter, Middle Brook and Lil’ Brookie, to give them their family names) also planned to run a marathon to support us.  The Mount Desert Island half-marathon was to take place in the autumn of 2021 in Maine on the east coast of the United States.  The event was sadly cancelled; however, the McIlvaines ran the equivalent distance for us but not in a formal race.

Trustee Legwork

Alex Fletcher supporting Longford TrustAnd continuing the running theme – though, of course, you can do lots of other things to raise money for us as well as running – our trustee, Alex Fletcher (pictured right), inspired by the individuals above, climbed all the peaks over 1,000 feet in the Acadia National Park in Maine. The total distance equalled that of a marathon and the amount of climb was just over 7,000 feet which he completed in one day last autumn.
